Web Design
- Giving DevHub a Facelift
Creating depth with light - One of my earliest tasks at DevHub was to update the look and feel of the marketing website. The goal was to showcase the multitude of ways users could create free websites easily with the web-based editor — a traditional blog, a personal profile, a small business site, and an affiliate site.
The final design shown here was not quite the direction I wanted to ultimately head in. It was actually an initial concept that was very rough. At the time, the font Museo Slab was gaining popularity; inserting it into the concept was more out of curiosity to see it in context than a real decision to implement it in the final design. However, when asked to see my progress, one of the founders loved it so much, he urged I develop it without any further exploration and ideation. I mildly protested but was ultimately dismissed.
Still, the final design was a much-welcome change from what it was previously as shown in the first screenshot. Though it didn't garner any votes, the design was included in CSS Mania and CSS Wow. The design has since changed to a new version, but still retains the overall look and feel I developed.
